Nature & Culture International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of biological and cultural diversity, focusing especially on the highly biodiverse and threatened ecosystems of Andean South America and Mexico. Through its local offices in Loja and Zamora (Ecuador), and Piura and Amazonas (Peru), we carry out a wide range of land purchase and conservation, scientific research, environmental education, sustainable development and cultural outreach.

Our programs help local communities integrate their development with conservation objectives. It is our supreme ethic to respect local custom and culture. In our view, no policy or action can succeed without the acceptance and support of local communities.

Dry forest: endemic species, traditional communities and conservation.

Andes: the highest biodiversity concentration on the planet and water source for South America.

Amazon: ancient cultures and tropical rain forest.

Culture: ethnic groups, livelihoods and their relationship with nature

"The Great Work of our generation is to carry out the transition from a period of human devastation of the Earth to a period when humans would be present to the planet in a mutually beneficial manner ... to ensure each species of their proper habitat and to conserve the basic functioning of the biosystems of the planet."
        - Thomas Berry, The Great Work
