“El Último Kuraka” tells the story of the Ikíitu people of San Antonio, Peru, through the hero Súkani, a leader with supernatural powers who is imprisoned by colonialists to seize his people’s land.
The comic, written in both Spanish and Ikíitu, aims to engage young Ikíitu in learning their language and heritage before it is lost forever. With fewer than 600 Ikíitu people remaining today, preserving their lived experience and worldview is imperative.

We review the species content of the Pristimantis orestes group and, by integrating genetic and morphological data, we distinguish and describe three new cryptic species from the subparamos of southern Ecuadorian Andes: Pristimantis sagedunnae, Pristimantis paladines, Pristimantis numbala. We briefly discuss the current species composition of the group, the role that natural history might have in determining the shape of the bodies, and the cryptic diversity and distribution pattern of some of the species in southern Ecuador.
