Most Andean glassfrogs live in small, specific areas, but Buckley’s glassfrog (Centrolene buckleyi) is an exception, covering a large region in the tropical Andes. Species that cover such wide areas often turn out to be groups of similar species, especially in complex regions like the Andes. Recent research has found that what was once considered a single species, C. buckleyi, actually includes several distinct groups with differences in appearance, calls, and genetics. In this work, C. buckleyi groups are reviewed using a wide range of samples, redefining what C. buckleyi is, and describing two new species that were previously hidden within the complex.

“El Último Kuraka” tells the story of the Ikíitu people of San Antonio, Peru, through the hero Súkani, a leader with supernatural powers who is imprisoned by colonialists to seize his people’s land.
The comic, written in both Spanish and Ikíitu, aims to engage young Ikíitu in learning their language and heritage before it is lost forever. With fewer than 600 Ikíitu people remaining today, preserving their lived experience and worldview is imperative.
