Thirty Years Protecting Latin America’s Most Biodiverse Landscapes

What’s New This Summer

Thirty years ago, a small group set out to protect some of the world’s most biodiverse forests. Today, with the support of donors, that work spans 29.5 million acres, built alongside the Indigenous Peoples and communities who know these landscapes best. Our summer newsletter covers a historic corridor recognition, formal protection for one of the largest Indigenous-led territories in the Amazon, and fresh discoveries from wildlife monitoring in the Andes. Here’s how it’s all connected.

Our Impact

Thirty years of this work adds up to 29.5 million acres protected, 4.2 billion tons of CO2 equivalent prevented, and 470 threatened vertebrate species safeguarded.

Every protected area, community partnership, scientific discovery, and conservation milestone highlighted here was made possible by people who chose to invest in nature over the long term. Thank you for being part of this work.
